If the Answer is Coaching, What is the Question?
Ngā mihi o te tau hou!
Welcome back everyone. We trust you’ve had a refreshing and rejuvenating break, enjoying the change of pace that this time of year brings.
We are looking forward to seeing many of you as the new school year gets underway.
Our message in this post is to highlight the importance of the ongoing development of coaching and coaches in our regions. We are committed to our vision of ‘providing quality personalised leadership development through coaching’ & continuing our own growth in this area.
Professional reading isn’t just professional. It’s also a wellbeing tool. Taking time with a book, whether it’s a leadership classic, a thought-provoking article, or a great podcast, offers you the chance to slow down, recharge, and think beyond the urgent “now.” In a role where decision-making is relentless, professional reading creates breathing space to get off the dance floor and onto the balcony, as well as fresh inspiration.
In relation to doing something with reading, here are five simple reflection strategies you can try yourself or use with your team:
3 things we are looking forward to in 2021:
- Exploring authentic leadership.
- Career coaching training – new learning for us.
- Continuing to develop our cultural competence.
2 quotes:
“Lead and learn in equal measure” Nuance – Michael Fullan
“The way you listen is more important than the way you talk”.
Radical Candor – Kim Scott
So……. if the answer is coaching, what is the question?
There’s not 1 but many questions!
What is the next step in my leadership development?
How can I grow those around me?
How do I move our school forward?
How do I approach that conversation I’ve been putting off?
How do I manage the stress and complexities of the work?
We’re doing great, what’s next for us?
How do I encourage more agency across my team/BOT?
How can I support my own and others hauora?
How can we support an effective professional growth cycle?
I know one size does not fit all, how can I personalise my staff PLD?
One of my team is lacking confidence, how can I best support them?
How can I use the strengths and talents of those around me?
What might ensure our learners are in the driver seat?
So how are you going to do more great work in 2021?
Best wishes for a positive start to the year.
Regards
Carol & Nadia
